Dancer, DJ, musician, philosopher, raconteur – none of these accurately describe him, but he will insist on using them. He has an interest in authentic jazz era dance styles. He teaches Lindy Hop, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, and other swing dance styles, and has performed solo and group routines at a number of events including the Christmas Tea Dance at the Ulster Hall.
As of New Years Day 2018, Dapper Dee launched his very own scene in Belfast. As the sister scene to Blues Belfast, Jazz Belfast teaches the widest range of vernacular dance styles under the umbrella of Jazz. Such include Charleston and, for the first time in Northern Ireland, Peabody, Balboa and Collegiate Shag.
This exciting new adventure has attracted interest from every corner of the city and beyond. Along with cross-community collaboration with other scenes in Galway and Cork, Jazz Belfast is a breath of fresh air for Belfast City.
